This Indenture made the first day of November in eighteenth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George the second by the grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland. King Defender of the faith ye anno Domini 1744 Between John Child Esq Vice President Mr Levy Ball Mr Francis Minshull Mr Joseph Mico Mr Henry Greenaway Mr Thomas Knapp for and behalf of themselves and the rest of the West New Jersey Society of the first part and James Alexander of the city of New York of the second part

Whereas the Parties of the first Part being seized Fee of thirteen thousand five hundred acres of Land after allowances for barrens sic scituate lying and being on the south side of the Passaic beginning opposite to the Point of Land that Lyeth between the Passaic River and Pequanick river and from thence south seventy degrees westerly eighty five chains from thence South seventy two degrees easterly two hundred and eighty three chains thence South forty four degrees westerly four hundred and seventy five chains thence to the easterly corner of Thomas Fullerton's land and thence along said Fullerton's land North forty five degrees westerly one hundred five chains to said Passaic river where fullerton brook falls into the same thence following down the stream of Passaic river to the upper corner of a small tract of meadow land belonging to John Johnston and Michael Haitoen then North fifty three degrees easterly along their line to said Passaic river and thence running down the stream of the said river as aforesaid to where it began and also seized in fee of one thousand acres of land with the appurtenances scituate lying and being on the west side of the Raway river in the county of Essex beginning by the said Raway river at the upper corner of John Popes land and running west one hundred and four chains thence north one hundred and seventeen chains thence east to Raway river and in fee of three thousand six hundred acres of land lying in the County of Bergen Beginning on the west side of the Hudson river by the land late of George Lockhart deceased and running along the lines of said Lockhart's land as his land goes to Cheche brook thence up the stream thereof to the land late of Baltharas Dehart deceased thence along the line of Dehart's land to Hudson river and thence along said Hudson river to where it began. Together with appurtenances thereunto belonging they the parties aforesaid of the first part by their Instrument of letter of Attorney in --- writing duely executed bearing date of the tenth day of February in the tenth year of our Sovereign Lord King George the second did constituate appoint Joseph Murray Jeremiah Lattouch & Joseph Haynes and every any and either of them to be their Agents attorneys and factors in his Majesty's Province of New Jersey and elsewhere in America to sell assign dispose of any of their lands and Tenements according to the instructions which they every or any of them should from time being or any part thereof to such person or person's and for such sum or sums of money as should be deemed most for the Society's advbantage to make execute all necessary deeds & writings in the case Customs of the Country should require as by the said instrument under the hands & seals of them the said John Child, Levy Ball,Francis Minshull, Joseph Mico, Henry Greenaway & Thomas Knapp and also sc??? With the common Seal of the said West New Jersey Society and recorded also in the Secretarys Office at Burlington in Book E,page 247, recorded also in the Secretarys Office at Perth Ambory in Liber E2 fob 172 reference being thereunto had may more fully at large appear. Now this Indenture witneseth that the parties aforesaid of the first part for in consideration of the sum of two thousand seven hundred fifteen pounds current money of the Colony of New York for their use to the said Jeremiah Lattouch, Joseph Haynes two of their Attorneys in hand paid of which they acknowledge the receipt discharge the said. James Alexander thereof forever they the said Party's of the first part by the said Jeremiah Lattouch Joseph Haynes two of the said Attorneys in the said letter of Attorney named have granted bargained sold released engaged and confirm to said James Alexander his heirs to operate by virtue of the Act of Assembly of New Jersey for transfer uses into ?????? All that the above described thirteen thousand five hundred acres of land and also that the above described three thousand six hundred acres of land with allowance for barrens highways and also all that above described one thousand acres of land and by whatsoever other boundaries or descriptions the above intended granted lands are held enjoyed by the parties aforesaid of the first part. Together with all manner of woods underwoods trees timber seedings mines minerals quarries hawking hunting fowling fishing wrecks waifs strays Demands all other libertys privileges and franc which the partys aforesaid of the first part have or may or can have or claim in or to the same hereby granted Premises all the rights of Propriety by virtue whereof the said hereby granted land where at first located or suing returned or patented all the estate right title interest ????? property claim and demand whatsoever of the parties aforesaid of the first part said West Jersey Society both in Law equity of in to the same hereby granted premises every part thereof. To have to Hold the above bargained premises with the appurtenances as aforesaid to the said James Alexander his heirs assigns to the sole only proper use benefit behoof of the said James Alexander his heirs assigns forever. In witness whereof the parties to these presents Indentures have interchangeably set their hands & seals the day and year first above written.
