In the 1980 book "The 1937 Newark Bears: A Baseball Legend" author Ronald Mayer wrote in part (page 188) "Harper was the voice of the Bears, reporting both home and away games...He was loved by all the players and did a great job as an announcer." (The Newark Bears won the Little World Series in 1937 and was touted as the greatest minor league team in baseball history.
