I grew up on Montclair Avenue between Clifton Avenue and Ridge Street. Went to Ridge Street School, Broadway Junior High & Barringer High School. I remember The Kent Theater on Mount Prospect Avenue, Frank & Pete's Fish store, Carrino's Deli on Mount Prospect Avenue, Liss, The Old Ladies, Zippos Chicken Market, Pepes, Webers Hardware, Rainbow Liquors HU3-6123, Mintz's Department Store, The Elwood Theater, Hatches Garage, coal deliveries, the knife sharpeners coming around with the grinding wheels, produce trucks, Branch Brook park...what great memories of a wonderful city. |
