3. Myron Sugerman, a native Newarker, took boxing lessons from Solly Castellane at the Newark Athletic Club in the late 1940s and recalled to me with pride that "Solly used to take me all over to put on exhibitions with other kids on how he taught his students to box."

Sugerman, today, is one of the sponsors of the 22-year old sensational junior welterweight, Dmitriy Salita, from Brooklyn via Odessa. At the time of this writing, his record was 19-0 with ten knockouts. Salita is an Orthodox Jew who is both Koshruth and Sabbath observant.
